Instrument Rating (R)

Course Overview
The Instrument Rating (Restricted), formerly known as the UK Instrument Meteorological Conditions Rating, allows the holder to operate under IFR in specific classes of airspace and to fly instrument approach procedures.
The IR(R) is limited to use in the UK only and has more restricted privileges than a full Instrument Rating. Not only does it provide you with more options if you encounter British weather, but it also enhances your overall flying skills. It enables safer operations on days with marginal weather, when other VFR traffic may be concentrated at lower altitudes.
The IR(R) teaches the majority of the skills required for a full Instrument Rating from an early stage in your aviation career, making it a perfect fit for the Competency Based Instrument Rating (CB-IR) as you gain experience.
